What To Do In An Emergency

🔥 If You Smell Gas

  1. Do not turn any electrical switches on or off
  2. Do not use naked flames or smoke
  3. Open windows and doors to ventilate
  4. Turn off the gas supply at the meter if safe to do so
  5. Leave the building and keep others away
  6. Call 0800 111 999 from outside or a neighbour's phone
  7. Do not re-enter until declared safe

🌊 If Your Home is Flooding

  1. Call 999 if you are in immediate danger
  2. Move valuables, documents and medicines upstairs
  3. Turn off electricity at the fuse box if safe to do so
  4. Never walk or drive through floodwater — 6 inches can knock you over

  6. Contact your insurer as soon as possible

💥 After an Explosion

  3. Turn off your internal stop tap (usually under the kitchen sink)
  4. Do not use tap water until it has been declared safe
  5. Move valuable items away from affected areas
  6. Photograph all damage for insurance purposes
