Crosby is a popular and attractive coastal suburb north of Liverpool, part of the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, with a character that blends the practicality of a well-connected Merseyside suburb with a genuine coastal identity and some striking cultural landmarks. With a population of around 52,320, Crosby and the immediately adjacent village of Blundellsands together form one of the most sought-after residential areas on Merseyside, with a broad range of housing from Victorian terraces to substantial detached properties in the leafier streets near the shore.
The town's most famous attraction is Another Place — Antony Gormley's extraordinary installation of 100 cast-iron figures standing on Crosby Beach, facing out to sea across the Mersey estuary. The figures, each a cast of the artist's own body, extend for three kilometres along the beach and are one of the most visited and talked-about public artworks in England, visible from the shore at low tide and partially submerged at high tide.
Crosby has excellent Merseyrail connections to Liverpool city centre (around 20 minutes to Lime Street) and a thriving local high street in the village centre with good independent shops and restaurants. Schools are highly rated, with a 95% Good-or-better Ofsted record across the area. House prices average £218,000, notably lower than the similarly well-connected but more expensive Formby to the north.
