Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant is a remote, deeply Welsh village at the head of the Tanat Valley in Powys, best known as the gateway to Pistyll Rhaeadr — at 73 metres, the highest single-drop waterfall in England and Wales and one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. The village was the home of William Morgan, who translated the Bible into Welsh in 1588 — the most important event in the survival of the Welsh language.
The Berwyn Mountains rise above the village, offering some of the most remote and unspoilt walking in Wales. The Tanat Valley stretches north through quiet farmland in a landscape almost entirely unchanged for centuries.
